  • Students can now learn Latin, Chinese and German

    Carroll County High School is now offering more classes than ever, including three new languages: Latin, Chinese and German. Students can take these and many other new courses at the Center of Accelerated Learning.

  • NAMI offers local 12-week course

    The National Alliance for Mental Illness is offering a free 12-week educational course for families and friends with members who suffer from mental illness.

  • Yocum promoted to colonel in U.S. Army

    Lt. Col. Mike Yocum was promoted to the rank of colonel in the U.S. Army in a ceremony Jan. 10, at Fort Belvoir, Va.  Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Army for Force Management and Manpower Gwen DeFilippi presided over the ceremony.  

    Yocum was born in Carroll County  and  is the son of Jim and Shelby Yocum of Harrodsburg.

  • KDH celebrates Heart Month

    As part of Heart Month in February, King’s Daughters’ Health is offering several programs and services. Here are some of the planned community events:

    Valentine’s Day Cards (Friday, Feb. 14) - Team members from KDH will be sharing cards with patients who are in the hospital on Valentine’s Day.

  • Westrick always had a smile on his face, served as an example for others

    This week, as you all know, we lost a great person in our community, Bruce Westrick.

    I didn’t know him well yet. In a small way, I was given the grace to be able to penetrate this man’s heart and value him for the great example that he was. I was always impressed with his happiness and positive outlook.

    He came to Mass at St. John on Saturdays at 4:30 p.m. He would sit on the bench at the back of the church.
