  • Carroll County District Court Public Records: Week of Oct. 5, 2011

    CORRECTION

    Due to a typesetting error in the Sept. 28, 2011 issue, one item under the deeds category in Records was incorrect, merging two listings. It should have read:

    Eva Jo Hill of Carrollton to Tina Buchanan of Milton, Ky. for the amount of $1, (fair market value is $300) for property located in Carroll County on Sept. 2.

    Karen Webb of Verona, Ky. to Mark McDonald of Carrollton for the amount of $11,000 for property located in Happy Hollow Campground in Carroll County of Sept. 2.

     

  • Plans for new gym move forward

    B.J. Watts, owner of Wattsy’s House of Iron, presented plans for building a new workout facility to Carrolltton’s planning and zoning board Monday.

  • Tharp honored for service as he starts retirement

    After 33 years of fire service on two departments, Randy Tharp has hung up his helmet for the final time, retiring as the chief of the Carrollton Fire Department effective Friday, Sept. 30.

    Tharp said what he will miss most about being a firefighter is the camaraderie he has built with the other members of the department.

  • Portal offers parolees a chance to succeed

    Making the transition from being in prison to being on parole and rejoining society often is difficult, particularly for those who may not have a lot of support “on the outside.”

    But a new program offered by the Carroll County office of the state Department of Probation and Parole is hoping to offer some guidance to parolees.

  • Property owner seeks Main Street zoning change from P&Z board

    Carrollton property owner John Shrewsberry asked the city’s planning and zoning board Monday to consider a zoning change for part of Main Street. He had previously addressed Carrollton city council, but City Attorney Nick Marsh advised him to come to P&Z.
