  • Library readies for its summer reading program

Summer Reading Program is always an exciting time for us. This year is even more exciting because we have new friends moving into our library.

We are always looking for ways to provide our patrons with the best library experience possible. As we live in our building, which still seems new to us, it is hard to make changes. But we are going to do it!

We are adding some new elements in our children’s area to create a fun, dynamic reading and play space. This will include two new caterpillars that will become a part of our library family.

It was a pitchers’ duel in varsity baseball action Saturday when the Carroll County Panthers traveled to Bedford to take on the Trimble County Raiders. Rain delayed the start time of the game, but it did not dampen the spirits of the high school athletes. Carroll ultimately pulled out a 5-0 win.

Both teams were scoreless during the first two innings with Zakk Hicks pitching four strikeouts for Carroll County and Zack Beard pitching two strikeouts for Trimble.

Tied 3-3 in the bottom of the seventh, Alyson Stanley hit a leadoff triple to centerfield and scored the winning run on a sac fly to right field by Cheyenne Clark.

  • Carroll strings together hits to shutout Lady Raiders, 6-0

After a big 8-3 victory over South Oldham the night before, the Trimble County Lady Raiders had high hopes traveling to Lady Panther Field Tuesday night. The home team was coming off a tough 4-3 loss to Henry County, and the visitors were hoping to avenge a 12-0 loss to their border rival earlier in the season.

Unfortunately for the Lady Raiders, the Lady Panthers had other plans, ending Trimble’s three-game winning streak with a 6-0 win.
