  • Ballinger jersey on display at basketball hall of fame

    After a stellar career in which she was twice named NAIA Player of the Year, Whitney Ballinger’s Lady Tiger Basketball uniform jersey will be put on display in the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame’s Ring of Honor in Knoxville, Tenn.

    “This is as much of an honor for our school as it is her,” said Coach Ginger Colvin. “People passing through there (Hall of Fame) will catch a glimpse of our school and what Whitney has accomplished in her three short years here.”

  • Business leaders take part in chamber event

    About 100 local business people, elected officials, industry representatives from Louisville and Northern Kentucky and high school students gathered in Carrollton last week to attend a leadership event chocked full of nationally-recognized authors, business leaders and inspirational personalities.

  • McGlennen indicted in escape from Shaw during May 2 arrest

    An Owen County man was recently indicted after allegedly escaping May 2 from a Carroll County deputy sheriff.

    While in Owen County, Patrick W. McGlennen, 21, was being arrested by officers of the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office on a felony theft warrant from Carroll County. 

  • Carrollton city cleanup scheduled June 11

    The city of Carrollton and Rumpke are co-sponsoring a citywide cleanup on Saturday, June 11.

    Mayor Gene McMurry said elderly or disabled citizens who need assistance getting their waste materials from in or around their house to the curb can call the mayor’s office at (502) 732-7051 beginning Wednesday, June 8. The service is free to city residents.

    Inmates from the Carroll County Detention Center will be available Thursday, Friday and Saturday to assist in the cleanup.

  • State files with ABC for parks

    State officials are moving forward with a plan to establish alcohol sales at four Kentucky state parks, including General Butler State Resort Park in Carrollton.

    Also included in the plan are Lake Barkley State Resort Park in Cadiz, Jenny Wiley State Resort Park in Prestonburg and John James Audubon State Park in Henderson.

  • RV park groundbreaking to be held this Thursday

    Now that the bid has been awarded to Ohio Valley Asphalt, the Two Rivers RV Park will finally get under way.

    The city, OVA and architectural firm Lose & Associates will be holding a pre-construction meeting on May 19. Mayor Gene McMurry said all of the permits are in place. There is one minor glitch involving a small wetland area that the Army Corps of Engineers has labeled on its maps. However, McMurry said he does not think it will be a problem.
