With income from sales, transportation revenue and interest down across the board for Carrollton Utilities, city council approved a budget amendment Monday night to reflect the declines.

During its April 27 meeting, city council heard  Carrollton Utilities general manager Bill Osborne crunch the numbers for the remainder of this year and provide a look ahead at a proposed budget for the 2009-10 fiscal year that begins July 1.

Motorcyclist suffers minor injuries

A motorcyclist was injured in a one-vehicle accident on U.S. 421 North in Bedford at 2:33 p.m. Saturday, April 25. Jason Long of Milton Fire and Rescue said Sharon Smith lost control of the bike and overturned. She was transported by Trimble County EMS to King’s Daughters’ Hospital in Madison, Ind., for treatment of minor injuries. The accident was investigated by Kentucky State Police Post 5.

 The Christian Academy of Carrollton Eagles tennis team played one of their two matches this year against Frankfort Christian Academy Friday, April 17 and won five of the seven matches.

Singles:  Girls - Maria Pascual won 8-0; Boys – Sergio Pascual won 8-2; Michael Stewart lost 2-8; Eli Ackermann lost 2-8.

Doubles: Mixed – Maria Pascual/Luke Ackermann won 8-0;

Boys: Eli Ackermann/Luke Ackermann won 8-4; Sergio Pascual/Michael Stewart won 9-7.

Friday night was a beautiful one for a baseball game and the Carroll County Panthers played two, knocking off the Austin Eagles 10-8 before falling to the Madison Cubs 12-2 in the Madison Courier Invitational Tournament.

The Panthers played four games during the two-day tournament, splitting a pair each day, finally falling in the consolation round on Saturday to the same team they defeated Friday, the Austin Eagles.
