  • Carroll falls to Gallatin, 12-8

    What appeared to be a blown call by the umpire at second base could have been the difference in the rivalry match-up between the Carroll and Gallatin baseball teams.

    Top of the third, two outs; the game is still tied 0-0 and Gallatin’s Curtis Flynn is on first. He attempts to steal and catcher Austin Dunn throws to shortstop Trey Boles, who is running over for the tag. The runner appeared to be out by a couple feet, but was called safe by the umpire.

  • Park manager position is vacant again

    The Two Rivers RV Campground is without a manager yet again.

    Mayor Gene McMurry confirmed in an interview Tuesday that Frances Wyman turned down the job because she did not like the contract and what it asked her to do.

    Carrollton City Council had agreed on the terms of the contractor position of Two Rivers RV Park campground manager at an  April 26 special meeting. It was approved 5-0. Councilman Adam Raker was not present for the vote.

  • Marsh begins work on policy manuals

    County Attorney Nick Marsh is beginning work on policy manuals for the offices headed by elected officials, such as the sheriff and county clerk.

    The issue of office policies arose last month at the fiscal court meeting when County Judge-Executive Harold “Shorty” Tomlinson said he would like to see consistency among the courthouse offices on when they close for holidays.

    General Butler State Resort Park will host its first Mudathlon – a three-mile, 40-obstacle course with a muddy terrain from start to finish – on Saturday, June 2.
