  • Perry graduates ‘Drive to Stay Alive’ Academy

    Carroll County High student Kassidy Perry was among 23  students throughout the state selected by Kentucky State Police to participate in the “Drive to Stay Alive” academy.  The program ran from Sept. 5-9 at KSP Headquarters in Frankfort. 

    The ‘Drive to Stay Alive’ program teaches the students safe driving techniques by KSP instructors with hands-on road driving and classroom exercises, including the dangers of driving impaired, seat belt safety, distracted and aggressive driving.

    Carrollton Rotary Club meets at noon at the General Butler State Resort Park lodge.

    AA Big Book study groups meets every Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Carrollton Christian Church, 310 Fifth St.

    Carroll County High School Site Based Decision Making Council meets at 4 p.m. in the high school conference room.

    Thursday, Sept. 20

    Carrollton Homemakers Club meets at 10:30 a.m. at the Carroll County Extension Office on Floyd Drive.

  • New Girl Scout troop to raise funds for uniforms

    Newly formed Girl Scout Troop 38 will hold a yard sale Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 22-23 to raise funds for uniforms.

    Troop leader Jamie Tharp said there will be items from about 13 families at the fundraiser on the lawn of the Carroll County Courthouse in downtown Carrollton.

    The fund raising event is planned for 9 a.m.-5 p.m. each day.

    Eighth annual youth conference is Sept. 22

    The Open Door Baptist Church, 1476 Highway 36 East in Carrollton will hold their 8th Annual Youth Conference on Saturday, Sept. 22 at 4 p.m. Dr. Dennis Corle will the the guest speaker. Corle is editor/publisher of Revival Fires and president of Revival Fires Baptist College. He travels all over the United States and Canada preaching God’s work.  Pastor Jerry Ison invites all youth to attend. Food, games and preaching will be provided.

  • Post Office renovated

    The Carrollton Post Office, pictured at right Friday, has undergone a major renovation over the past eight weeks. Exterior work on the historic building includes replacing the spindles on top of the building and handrail, fixing the leaky roof, recaulking the windows, replacing the broken windows, painting the exterior handrails. On the inside, walls with water damage have been fixed and repainted.
