  • Sept. 29 event is more than a walk; funds help program match a child with a mentor

Sept. 29 is the date for the annual Big Brothers Big Sisters of Carrollton Walk-a-Thon. We’ll meet at 9 a.m. at the county park and walk for as long or as little as inspiration will carry us.

Of course, the core of a “walk” is walkers, and we certainly seek those. Envelopes are available at the Big Brothers Big sisters office at First Baptist Church. Please consider joining us for the fund raising event.

I started out washing dishes at The Tasteful Chef in Ghent when I was 14 as a part-time job after school. I thought it was ironic that my first job cooking didn’t involve any actual cooking, but I figured everyone had to start somewhere.
