  • Family welcomes baby son Nov. 12

    Corina and Adam Beach of Carrollton are proud to announce the birth of their son, Waylon Lee Beach, born Monday, Nov. 12, 2012, at Norton’s Suburban Hospital in Louisville, Ky.

    He weighed 10 pounds 10 ounces and was 20 inches long.

    Maternal grandparents are Nicolee and William Shandy of Worthville, Ky.

    Paternal grandparents are Susan and Larry Beach of Carrollton.

  • Club learns about Big Brothers/Big Sisters

    On Dec. 4, the Carrollton Woman’s Club met at Pat’s Place on Seminary Street for a Christmas Program.

    Nine members and two guests were present. Carolyn Stout and Dorothy Buckner were hostesses and had decorated and planned the program.

    Nancy Jo Grobmyer introduced guests Janice Chilton and Sister Paula Gohs.

  • Repenting before God can help with achieving goals in the new year ahead

    We are leaving this year of 2012 behind and I wonder: Have we achieved the goals we set for ourselves? Did we overcome certain family troubles? Do we have a better job? Is our family better socially, economically and spiritually? Do we feel proud of our children?

    Perhaps we are asking ourselves many more questions – how many goals that we set for ourselves this year have we achieved and are we the same or worse than the year before.

    Carrollton Rotary Club meets at noon in the Burley Room at the Lodge in General Butler State Resort Park.

    AA Big Book study groups meets every Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Carrollton Christian Church, 310 Fifth St.

    Carroll County High School Site Based Decision Making Council meets at 4 p.m. in the high school conference room.

    Thursday, Dec. 20

    Carrollton Homemakers Club meets at 10:30 a.m. at the Carroll County Extension Office on Floyd Drive.

  • Carroll to participate in $40 Million Race to the Top program

    The Carroll County School District is among 22 Kentucky school districts and two regional educational cooperatives to share in a $40 million Race to the Top grant from the U.S. Department of Education. The consortium, led by the Green River Region Educational Cooper-ative and the Ohio Valley Educational Cooperative, was one of only 16 grant recipients chosen from 372 submitted nationally to receive the award, which was announced on Dec. 11.
