  • ‘New Deal’ and its effect on women explored by club

    The March 7 meeting of the Caby M. Froman Club was held at noon in the Burley Room of General Butler State Resort Park. Ellen Van Nagel acted as hostess for the occasion.

    President Sandra Thomas began the meeting with a St. Patrick’s Day welcome and the reading of “The Wearing of the Green.” It was announced that the June luncheon location has been moved to Owl Creek Country Club of Anchorage, Ky.

    This menu is for Cartmell Elementary and Kathryn Winn Primary Schools. Carroll County High School and Middle Schools are the same except for where noted.

    Thursday, March 20: Taco with tortilla, lettuce, tomato, cheese, salsa, refried beans, orange and applesauce; breakfast: Sausage biscuit and gravy.

    Friday, March 21: Hamburger/cheeseburger on bun, lettuce, tomato, pickle, French fries, apple and diced pears; breakfast: Donuts.

  • Softball road win | March 20, 2014

    The Lady Panthers scored 10 runs in the second inning en route to a season-opening 15-4 win at Grant County Friday. Carroll County collected 14 hits in the win and were led by senior Kelsey Ogden, who hit two doubles and a single for seven RBIs.

    Senior Kayla Williamson also had three hits and one RBI. Senior Michaela Culver hit two doubles, good for two RBIs, while freshman Houston Lindsay hit a single and a double for two RBIs. Freshman Haley Dermon got two hits and an RBI, freshman Jenah Roberts had one hit and one RBI and freshman Cheyenne Lawrence had one hit.

  • ATC: Changing the world, one student at a time

    The former “vocational school” is now named the Carroll County Area Technology Center, or ATC. It is funded and staffed through the Kentucky Department of Education and operates under state guidelines and leases space from the Carroll County School System for the local center.

    “I like science because we get to learn about animals and I really love animals.”

    “My favorite subject is math because I like doing different math problems and challenging myself.”

    What is your favorite thing about school and why?

    “My favorite thing about school is to be able to learn. I like to learn new interesting things. I like to learn because it’s fun and gives me schema.”

    What is your favorite subject and why?

    “My favorite subject is math. I like math because it helps me whenever I need to calculate the cost of something and things similar to that.”

  • March 27 events at CCMS celebrate both old and new

    The evening of March 27 is packed with a groundbreaking ceremony, a school board meeting and a celebration honoring the old Carrollton High School and celebrating the Carroll County Middle School gymnasium.
