  • Journey to Calvary

    During the season of Lent people do a lot of sacrifices, giving-ups and prayerful practices.

    One of the things I usually do everyday during Lent is the Stations of the Cross. The 14 Stations of the Cross and the resurrection help me to walk with Jesus to Calvary. Usually I don’t use any book to pray, instead stand sometimes in silence in front of the picture looming and reflecting on the event.

    Calvary Full Gospel hosts CAYR Dinner

    CAYR Dinner, is held the last Friday of each month (March 30th) from  5-7 p.m. at Calvary Full Gospel church located at Westside Firehouse in Prestonville, Ky. Free, fun and fellowship with friends.

  • Carrollton man arrested on sex-related charges involving three minors

    Kentucky State Police arrested a Carroll County man on several sex-related charges.

    Principe Llerena 23, of 168 Floyd St., was arrested on March 22 at about 11:30 a.m. at the Kentucky State Police Post 5 in Campbellsburg by Detective Steve Goodale.

    Llerena was charged with six counts of third degree rape, six counts of third degree sodomy and two counts of first degree sexual abuse. The charges stem from several encounters Llerena allegedly had with three teenage girls over the past year, according to a news release.

    On March 9, 2012, President Obama declared six Indiana Counties as disaster areas due to damages and losses caused by severe storms, tornadoes and straight-line winds that occurred from Feb. 29 through March 3.

    As a result of the declaration, six Kentucky counties were named as contiguous counties where eligible family farmers may qualify for FSA EM loan assistance pursuant to Section 321(a) of the Consolidated Farm and Rural Development Act. 

    These counties are Carroll, Daviess, Henderson, Jefferson, Oldham and Trimble.

  • Rand says emergency measures will help area’s tornado victims

    Rep. Rick Rand, D-Bedford, joined House and Senate leaders and members in announcing legislation that would assist owners of buildings damaged in the March 2 tornadoes with tax relief. The bill would also help schools and staff suffering with potential loss of funds due to absences caused by the disaster.

    Child-ren’s development flourishes when they have close, trusting relationships with the adults who care for them. Keeping a close interactive relationship is one of the most important things you do with children. 

    Here are some ideas for you as you as a parent especially when parenting youth who have gone through rough times and may not be as receptive to you as you might wish.
