  • Children seek time, interest on Christmas wish lists

    We recently went through the interests of the children that are still on the waiting list of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Carroll County. Lo and behold, these children looking for a new friend are not asking for the world. In fact, most of us are exactly who they need in doses we can deliver.

    For example, a 9-year-old girl writes that she hates to watch TV, but loves to go to Wal-Mart. An 8-year-old boy is very creative, enjoying music, acting and travel. A 10-year-old girl wants to go to Carroll County school events and spend time outside.

  • Chandler denies motion to suppress, dismiss DUI case

    A motion to suppress and dismiss charges in an ongoing DUI case was denied Nov. 19 by District Court Judge Elizabeth Chandler.

    In his case presented during an Oct. 10 hearing, attorney Stanley Billingsley argued that Carrollton Police Department officers, because they are not sworn sheriff’s deputies, have no jurisdiction outside the city limits.

  • Using supplements can help with health along with exercise

    Dietary supplements aren’t something to use only when they have health issues. Most people who use them are healthy, and supplements help them stay that way.

    A common misconception about supplements is that they are weaker versions of prescription drugs that treat disease. But trying to prevent and treat serious illnesses are not the main reasons take supplements, according to the National Institute of Health.

    Nativity program set for Friday, Saturday

    The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 501 Main Street in Carrollton will present its fourth Our Savior’s Nativity from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 6, and 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.  on Saturday, Dec. 7. Everyone is welcome to attend. Light refreshments will be served. The event is free.

    Hymn sing planned for church in Bedford

    Trimble County Hymn Sing is 7 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 5, at Bedford Pente-costal Church.
