  • Faithful believers should uphold, support others in church, community

    Recently, I have felt myself drawn to the conclusion that one of the biggest problems facing Christianity today is that we have forgotten discipleship. 

    John Wesley wrote, “I am more and more convinced that the devil himself desires nothing more than this, that the people of any place should be half-awakened and then left to themselves to fall asleep again.”

  • Morris, Johnson wed on Oct. 17

    Patrick Morris of Carrollton and Jolene Johnson of Carrollton exchanged vows Oct. 17, 2013, at Orange Beach, Alabama.      

    The groom is the son of Tom Morris of Lamar, Mo. and Bonnie Morris of Carrollton, Ky.

    The bride is the daughter of Donna Johnson of Carrollton and the late John Johnson.

    A reception will be held at 7 p.m., Nov. 9, at the National Guard Armory in Carrollton. All friends and family are invited to attend.

    The English Christian Church Ladies Fellowship is having a fundraiser selling fresh Florida fruit from Oct. 24 through Nov. 13. Fruit will be delivered before Christmas.   • Class of 1988 sets 25 year reunion

    CCHS Class of 1988 is planning  its 25 year reunion for Nov. 9 in Carrollton

    The Carroll County High School class of 1988 will hold its 25 year reunion at 6 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 9, at Down On Main Restaurant (upstairs).

  • Athletes Honored

    Volleyball players Emily Baker, Jessica Foster and Stevie Ogburn were named to the 31st District All-Tournament Team. Sabrina Young was named to the 8th Region All-Tournament Team. Kelly Layton and Brittany Yocum were named to the NCKC All-Tournament Team. 

    Boys soccer players Guillermo Cruz, Michael Hall, Mark Ogburn and Denis Perez were named to the 31st District All-Tournament Team.

    Girls soccer players Teresa Garrett and Alex Skirvin were named to the 31st District All-Tournament Team.
