  • Girls fall 3-0 to Henry

The Lady Panthers soccer team suffered a disappointing loss Saturday at the hands of Henry County, 3-1, at home. “We can play Walton-Verona 3-0, and they’re just a higher quality team,” head coach Greg Damron said after the game, referring to Carroll’s Sept. 5, match with the Lady Bearcats. “I’m not saying Henry County is a bad team, but they’re not as good as we made them look.”

Damron was somewhat at a loss for words to describe his team’s struggles against the Lady Cats.

  • Ogden header wins the game for Panthers

The Panthers soccer team may not have played as well as they would have liked, but, in the end, it was the final score that mattered. Carroll County defeated visiting Henry County, 3-2, in overtime Saturday in a double header with the girls varsity teams. It also was Military Appreciation Night, so both teams sported camouflage t-shirts in lieu of the black and gold.

Tied at the end of regulation, senior Mark Ogburn scored the winning goal with a header into the back of the net off of an assist by fellow senior Cody Cruz.

  • First phase of trails now ready to use

Though the project hasn’t extended as far as originally planned, state, county and city officials gathered at the National Guard Armory Tuesday to officially open Phase One of the Park to Park Trails project.
