  • Carroll County students learn citizenship through food drive

    November has been an active month of learning about citizenship for students in the Carroll County School District. From the Presi-dential Election to Veteran’s Day to Scouting for Food, students have learned first-hand what citizens must do to live in a civil society. Throughout November, students learned about democracy, honored those who keep our country safe, and have helped fellow Carroll County citizens who need a helping hand during the holidays.

  • Carroll County District Court Public Records: Week of Nov. 21, 2012

    Items published in court news are public record. The News-Democrat publishes all misdemeanors, felonies and small-claims judgments recorded in district court, as well as all civil suits recorded in circuit court.   • Bazaar, craft show set to benefit troops

    The Holiday Bazaar and Craft Show is 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, at the National Guard Armory, 1828 U.S. Hwy. 227, Carrollton.

    Santa will be on site to have his picture taken with the little ones. All proceeds from booth rentals benefit the local deployed soldiers.

    November is Fine Amnesty Month. Reduce your late-materials fines and support the Carroll County Ministerial Association Food Bank. Fines will be forgive for every overdue item returned with the donation of a nonperishable food item.

  • Embs ends high school career with six school records

    As the old saying goes, records were made to be broken. And running back Tyshaun Embs has shattered six of them in his senior campaign for the Carroll County Panthers football team.

    Embs is the new school record holder for the most rushing yards in a game (420), most touchdowns scored in a game (6), most points scored in a game (36), most touchdowns scored in a season (27), most rushing yards in a season (2,507) and most points scored in a season (164).
