  • Carroll County 4-Hers earn honors at the state fair

    As you read in the last article, Carroll County 4-Her’s were successful at the Kentucky State Fair last month.  You might ask, “Where’s the Beef?”

     And I can tell you where the best beef is! Right here in Carroll County, where Caleb and Levi Steph-enson placed in several classes in the Angus Beef show. The biggest honor was when Caleb’s heifer was named best of breed and owned.

    On Thursday, Sept. 5, Panther Tots presents Old McDonald Had a Farm, Point Park, 5:30-7 p.m. featuring animals from Sunrock Farm, sponsored by Carroll County Public Library.

  • Senior Event features railroad theme Sept. 12

    The 2013 Carroll County Senior Event, themed “We’ve Been Working on the Railroad,” will be held  from 4:30 p.m. until sundown, Thursday, Sept. 12 at Point Park in Carrollton. This year’s event will bring back old memories when the L&N trains were such a part of daily life in Carrollton, Worthville, Sanders and other surrounding towns.

    All senior citizens from Carroll and other counties are invited to join in the festivities planned for this year’s event.

  • Girdler, Ogburn to wed Sept. 21

    Bradley Ogburn of Carrollton, Ky. and Debbie Gardner of Loveland, Ohio announce the upcoming wedding of their daughter, Ashley Ogburn on Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013.

    The bride-to-be is a graduate of Carroll County High School and completed Cosmetology School in 2004. She is currently an owner and hairstylist at Mane Studio in Carrollton.

    The groom-elect is Andy Girdler, son of Angie Lewellyn of Carrollton and the late Scott Girdler. He is a graduate of Carroll County High School and is employed by NAIS of Madison.

    We are only weeks away from our annual Big Brothers Big Sisters Walk-for Kids’ Sake event at 9 a.m., Sept. 28 at the county park, so you can predict the rush of details we are trying to cover.
