Sixty-two years ago on Feb. 14, 1952, at the age of 21, Freddie C. Earls of Carrollton was called to serve active duty in Korea for the Department of the U.S. Army. He served only one year, five months and 17 days. On April 19, 1953, he was wounded, resulting in the loss of eyesight in both eyes.
After a long hospital stay and a long recovery period, he was sent to rehabilitation in Chicago, Ill.
