If the good Lord is willin’ and the river don’t rise, Locks 1 and 2 on the Kentucky River could be open before the end of October, when the locks close to recreational boaters for the winter.
David Hamilton, engineer for the Kentucky River Authority, said Tuesday that work to rehabilitate the steel lock gates on Lock 1 at Carrollton and Lock 2 at Lockport should begin the first week of June.
Mac Construction of New Albany, Ind., was hired for the project, estimated at about $3.3 million for both projects, Hamilton said.
