  • Christians can learn from what atheists are saying

    My son landed in a college course on Atheism last year. As you would expect, this raised his old man’s eyebrows. Having read my share of stormy essays and sympathetic voices of doubt, I wondered how a preacher’s kid would hear these voices. The good news is that he weathered the hostility of Marx, Freud, and Dawkins and is hopefully a bit more thoughtful about the thought required of faith.

  • Youth league registration now underway

    Carroll County Parks and Recreation 2011 youth baseball and softball registration will continue through March 4 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. third floor of the courthouse and Sunday, Feb. 27, from 1-4 p.m. at Kathryn Winn Primary.

  • Track competes in first meet

    The Carroll County Panthers were in action for the first time this season last weekend. The Panthers competed at US Bank Arena in Maysville, Ky. at an indoor meet against 20 teams from across the state. 

    The Panthers had a great showing in their first meet with the girls’ team taking 9th place out of 19 teams behind a strong showing by sophomore Nora Fremin in the 55 meter dash (third place) and 55 meter hurdles (fourth place) and by senior MaryEsther Fremin in the long jump (fifth place), according to head coach Joe Creager.
