  • Libraries offer important services to all

    Yellow is the color of the day. I know this is not a color that typically represents libraries, but it will in Frankfort today.

    Library Legislative Day is Feb. 20, and Patricia and I will be making the journey to the Capitol.  We are fortunate to have great legislators, Sen. Ernie Harris and Rep. Rick Rand, who will take time out of their busy schedules to meet with us today. 

    There are two hats I need to wear as director of the library.

    In last month’s Carroll County Chamber of Commerce column, we learned about the rich history of this organization. Now, let us introduce you to the 2013 Board of Directors and their comments and feelings of what being a member of the Chamber of Commerce means to them:

  • Dragons burn Panthers, 75-41

    It may not look like it after seeing a final score of 75-41, but Carroll County (15-11) matched South Oldham (19-6) stride for stride in the opening part of the game, Feb. 12.

    Brandon Stewart hit a 3-pointer with 6:07 to go in the second quarter to pull the Panthers within two points, 23-21.

    But then the wheels came off the Panther Express.

  • Corbin’s buzzer-beater sends seniors off with win

    Friday night proved to be a fairy tale ending for the Fab Five seniors.

    Tied up at 66 points apiece, the Panthers took a timeout with 6.1 seconds to go. The visiting Walton-Verona Bearcats had just erased a 10-point fourth-quarter deficit with a 3-pointer by Tanner Moeves off a screen on the right side of the floor.
