  • Cook receives civil engineering award

    Clayton Spencer Cook of Worthville received the John Russell Award in Civil Engineering April 21 during Western Kentucky University’s annual awards program held at the Carroll Knicely Conference Center in Bolling Green.

    Cook is a student in the Ogden College of Science and Engineering at WKU.

  • Teachers ready students for testing

    Kathryn Winn teachers created a video to the tune of “Thrift Shop” by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis to boost their students’ MAP testing scores. Chandra Miracle raps the lyrics to the song. The lyrics were re-written by Miracle, her daughter Abby Miracle, and teachers Joseph McNeese, Aimee Roos and Andrea Carhart.   • Farmer’s Bank wins battle to collect pet food for CCAS

    Battle of the Banks Pet Food Drive with Carroll County Animal Support was held during Kentucky Week of the Animal on April 6-13. The goal to raise public awareness and to provide food for homeless animals in the CCAS foster program.

    Farmers Bank of Milton and First National Bank, main and branch locations participated. The winning total of pet food from Farmer’s Bank of Milton was 1,875 pounds, 10.5 ounces. First National Bank collected 267 pounds of pet food.

  • Eight graduate from KSP citizen’s police academy

    Meredith Russo and Misty Wheeler, both of Carroll County, were among eight citizens from Oldham, Henry and Carroll counties who recently completed the KSP Citizen’s Police Academy at Post 5 in Campbellsburg. Graduates were honored at a ceremony and dinner held at Our Best restaurant in Henry County Monday, April 22.

  • Two dates set for blood donations

    The Red Cross will hold two upcoming blood drive events in Carroll County to prepare for the summer months head.

    The donation opportunities are:

     • 9:30 a.m.- 2:30 p.m., May 21 at Dow Corning Corporation, 4770 U.S. Highway 42 East, Carrollton.

    • 11:30 a.m.- 3:30 p.m., May 28  at North American Stainless, 6870 Highway 42 East, Ghent.

    A blood donor card or driver’s license or two other forms of identification are required at check-in. All blood types are needed to ensure a reliable supply for patients.
