Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Carroll County are meeting over big pizzas to share their tales at 6 p.m., April 29, at First Baptist Church.

The end of the school year is a prime time to meet other mentors and learn about the diverse workings of our Bigs in the county, especially since the lunch room buzz is still fresh in our ears.

If you have been reading this column over the past few months, you either already were or are a person committed to your health and your strength. You exercise, push yourself and strive to pursue excellence. You are the choir; you have your robe on, hymnal out and are singing praise to the healthy stronger lifestyle.

They say preaching to the choir does not solve much. So here is my challenge to you. Take this article and go find that person who needs that jumpstart to fitness, strength and confidence and plead them to read this.

Each legislative session is invariably remembered for one or two high-profile laws, but there are always many others that, while not getting as much attention, are important as well.

I think spring is almost here, but it is hard to tell with this crazy weather. I know it officially starts today, but it is cold, gloomy, and quite frankly wintery.

I miss the consistency of July and August. You pretty much know it is going to be hot with varying levels of high humidity. These days, it will be 65 degrees one day and the next day it will snow from sun up to sun down. 

I know I should be more optimistic. I should be thankful for the 65 degree day, but I sure do miss sunshine.
