Farmers, especially those who drive their vehicles out of state, might want to consider a new option when purchasing license registration renewals during March.

Farmers have an option when purchasing their farm tags to adjust the weight limit from 38,000 pounds to 26,000 pounds. The price and the tags are the same, but the ramifications could be costly.

I am writing a special letter of thanks to our local Girl Scout Troop 606, led by Tracey Reynolds and Danielle Davis. They recently did a drive for Carroll County Animal Support at Kathryn Winn and Cartmell Elementary schools.

They collected a total of 352 items to donate to our group for the homeless animals of Carroll County, which included food, toys, treats, sweaters, collars, leashes, litter and puppy pads.

Everyone loves Girl Scout Cookies. But did you know that with every Samoa or Thin Mint you buy, you are helping build strong, successful girls?

With Girl Scout Cookie booths set for Feb. 17-March 22, this is a great time to talk about what girls gain from Girl Scouting. It is a good time to look at why we all have a stake in helping today’s girls succeed.

I wish to thank the Health Department and especially Rachel [Dermon] for allowing me to participate in the [arthritis] exercise program that is presented there.  It has helped me so much and taught me to cope with some issues with my health and agility problems. 

My family thanks them, too, and makes sure I do not miss a class. We laugh a lot in this class and enjoy each other. Please know, this 83-year-old appreciates the programs – and Rachel, who pushes us to keep trying to excel.
