• Judge needs to get all the facts first

Last week’s News-Democrat quoted “Special” Judge Karen A. Thomas. After reading the article I understand why she is “Special.” She doesn’t need all the facts or evidence to convict someone!

Just like the wild west: You get your fair trial and then we hang you!

  • River Sweep supporters earn word of thanks

The Carrollton Main Street Program and its River Sweep Committee held another successful cleanup Saturday along the banks of the Ohio and Kentucky rivers.

We want to thank our major sponsors for making this event possible. North American Stainless and Dow Corning provide the funding to help us clean up our community each year, present awards for volunteers and poster winners and have a picnic lunch.

    Thank you, dearest friends!

Since returning to the Provincial House of my Sisters of Divine Providence on June 1, I have been getting some rest and relaxation before moving to new ministry in the state of Maryland. My heart is still focused on your familiar faces as I pen a farewell to all of you in Carroll County who have been such a gift for 14 years.

  • North Key holds its annual yard sale

Spring has finally arrived, so it must be time for our annual yard sale. We have a few changes this year. We will be located in front of Gene and Sons, Inc. at 504 Fourth Street. Due to limited parking and dust from the construction at the Carroll County Middle School we moved down the street. Thank you Gene and Bonnie Vannarsdall.

This year we are having a fundraiser selling Honey Apple Salsa, made by Katelyn’s Honey. We are selling it for $5 per jar. The money raised from this will along with our yard sale, fund trips for our guys this summer.

  • Dog found after letter to editor

On behalf of Carroll County Animal Support and, specifically, our adoption coordinator and foster volunteer Kim Brown, I want to thank you for publishing the photo and information about our dog that went missing from Kim’s home last month.

The article ran on Thursday last week and by Friday night, Axel and Kim were tearfully reunited. After a good bath and lots of hugs, Axel is back on his heartworm treatment and is safe and sound.
