Having gone through puberty with a nearly blemish-free complexion, I was horrified at age 21 to find myself with a horrific case of what I guess was acne.  I was just out of college and teaching ninth grade students in East Baltimore, Md., and for a country girl, it was quite a challenge.

On March 2, Milton Fire  and Rescue Station No. 2 in Milton was hit by an EF-3 tornado. We lost the station, a 1983 Spartan fire engine, a mobile fish fry trailer, some gear, radios and pagers, and some other items that were stored at this station. Our fire department is all volunteer and relies on donations only since we are not a taxing department.

Free prom dresses are available for all girls at Carroll County High School. Cinderella’s Closet offers more than 4,000 dresses each year to juniors and seniors at no cost.

They provide every need a girl may have. Should a daughter not be a junior or senior or wait until the last minute, don’t worry. We also have Operation Prom Dress help at the Relevant church.

Last month I competed in the Miss Kentucky USA pageant representing Carroll County. Although I did not walk away with the crown, I had a phenomenal experience. I spent over six months preparing for the pageant, which included working

closely with those in my community. During those six months I received a major outpouring of support from my community, whether it was in Facebook well wishes, sponsorships or kind words, I want Carroll County residents to know that theydid not go unnoticed.
