The annual Carroll and Owen counties’ Charity Golf Scramble to benefit the Kentucky Sheriffs’ Boys and Girls Ranch was held Monday, Sept. 12, with Carroll County Sheriff Jamie Kinman and Owen County Sheriff Zemer Hammond hosting the event.

We send our sincere thanks to sheriffs Kinman and Hammond as well as to the Carroll and Owen county sheriffs’ offices and to all those helping. Your support and help of this event ensures we continue to reach Kentucky’s youth in a positive manner.

Bethlehem Post Office is open and excited that the tradition of applying the much-loved Pictorial Postmark, which depicts the Three Wisemen following the star to Bethlehem and in its 64th year. Cards that go all over the world are adorned with the Bethlehem pictorial postmark from Bethlehem, Ky. Ask your readers to bring their holiday cards so they can be postmarked from “Bethlehem,” and while they’re at it, bring a few new folks with them so they can start a tradition of their own.

Thanks to everyone that donated to this years Scouting for Food campaign – it was a huge success!  A special thanks also to the nearly 100 volunteers that came out Saturday to pick-up food items during the door-to-door campaign.  After everything was put away a new record was set with a tally of 16,011 items from the schools and the door-to-door drive – this is nearly 2,000 more than 2010 (and there’s still more items to be counted as a couple of the schools bring in their donations this week).
