I would like to thank all of the generous people who entered the seventh annual “Vision of  Sugar Plums” cooking contest held at McNeal’s during A Christmas Carroll in downtown Carrollton Saturday, Dec. 1. 

There were 59 beautiful desserts that were turned in for a chance to win a new cooking range from McNeal’s. I could see the time and special attention the people put into their desserts.

Just a note to say I had been toying with the thought of going to see the upcoming local performance of “It’s A Wonderful Life,” but something in last week’s News-Democrat article made the decision for me.

I now  have plans to be there, even if there is a standing-room only crowd and I have to stand the entire time.

Thanks to the citizens of Carrollton and Carroll County for your contributions to the 2012 Scouting For Food campaign. 

Once the dust settled on Saturday afternoon, the tally was 19,507 items collected; this is a substantial increase over last year’s 16,011 items and a new record.

A special thanks to the employees at the Kentucky Utilities-Ghent power station for their donation of nearly 3,000 items and we very much appreciate your contribution.
