• CCAS thanks everyone for help with event

  • Franklin thanks her pageant supporters

I would like to take this opportunity to thank a few individuals and groups that made my competition at The National Sweetheart Pageant, representing Kentucky, a success.

First of all, to Vibrant Med/Erica Chowning for sponsoring the making of my state video with Beyond the Lens Productions. It turned out beautifully and I could not have asked for more supportive sponsors! Also, thanks to Cody Brown with Beyond the Lens for letting his creative juices flow and produce an amazing video in a short time.

  • Thanks for coverage of Arts n’ Barks

I would like to thank The News Democrat for the full-page coverage of the Arts n’ Barks in the Park. The event was a family fun-filled day with vendors, music and activities for all. It was great to see the community get involved. I appreciate the newspaper picturing all the happenings of the day.

  • Expanded summer reading program successful

  • Volunteers, items needed at Carrollton Manor

It is not often I write a special letter for someone, but I recently have been visiting with some of the residents of the Carrollton Manor. One in particular has touched my heart tremendously. Upon visiting her this year, I noticed several things. The place could use a bit of sprucing up.

There is probably 30 to 40 residents in need of nurturing of the soul. You can feed a person; but they need some things to be proud of. I understand from my conversation with Mrs. Melissa Tucker, administrator, they do have activities but not enough, really.

  • Senior housing options exist in Carroll County

This letter is written in response to the P&Z Comprehensive Plan Survey results published in the paper on Aug. 18. We at Fairview Place found it interesting that 13 percent of the respondents were age 65 and over, but 26 percent of the people who replied regarding the housing section of the survey considered availability of senior citizen housing a problem. One of the top ten land uses encouraged was a need for senior/assisted living.

  • Donations sought for hospitalized child

I am an employee at Webster Drugs and my co-worker is Shaman Webster. His 18-month- old son, Christian, is sick. In this regard, I am knocking at your door for any donation you would like to make that may help Christian’s recovery. There is an account at First National Bank in the grandfather’s name, Chuck Webster, in care of the child, Christian Webster. All you have to do is stop by the bank and make your donation. You can even do it from the drive through.

  • Support for Mikie’s Ride appreciated

We would like to thank The News-Democrat. We also would like to thank everyone for all the work they have done to keep the memories of Mikie’s Ride going.

Thanks to all the people who gave door prize donations, all the people who came to the ride, to those who made donations, Carrollton Lions Club, Herb Kinman Chevrolet and people who cooked the food.

We really just want to thank everyone for all their love and support to keep our son, Mikie Gividen’s memories.
