  • N Ky. Salt Festival one of many fall events held in Kentucky

Fall may technically have begun early last week, but for many Kentuckians, it really started about a month ago, when the season’s first wave of festivals arrived.

Our nation has always used the harvest period as a time of celebration, and these gatherings, many of which draw tens of thousands of tourists, seem to grow more popular with each passing year.

With the upcoming General Election on Nov. 4, I would like to reminded the public of a few things:

  • Adkins asks voters to support Knight

To the voters of the 15th Circuit, Grant,  Owen and Carroll counties: I wish to thank all of you who voted for me in the May Primary election for Circuit Judge. I am honored and grateful for your support. My family and I worked hard, and a special thanks to my daughters, Klaire, Alyssa, Darcy and Lauren, for walking so many miles and knocking on all those doors.

  • Liven up dishes by adding simple ingredients

Hello my friends. As I sit here typing this I can only think of the glorious weather outside. Well, that and the wonderful food that is about to come our way. Fall, of course, brings leaves of varying shades, children in costumes consuming far more candy than they should and most importantly, football. All that being the case, it also brings back the hearty foods of cool weather making it one of my favorite times of year to cook.

  • Celebrate Red Ribbon Week Oct. 27-31

For many people, October is a month of awareness. Whether it is breast cancer, domestic violence or anti-bullying, it is a month to raise awareness and funds for causes that we are all passionate about.

  • Thanks for supporting Woofstock

Carroll County Animal Support was started 11-and-a-half years ago with a handful of people who saw a need to help the unwanted, homeless and abused animals in our community.

At that time, we only hoped to be where we are today and to see all the wonderful people who came to our first Woofstock event at General Butler State Resort Park. Their support was, just in a word, fantastic.

There is no way topersonally thank everyone who helped at Woofstock, but we want to try.

  • Thanks given for helping with car problem

I’ve always been impressed with the people of Carrollton, now even more so. I was having trouble with the ignition key  in my car. I was parked in front of Picker’s Paradise across from Webster’s Drug store. The owner came out to help me and tried several things, but we couldn’t get it to work. She gave me the number for Chuck’s Lock Shop in Carrollton.
