  • Wraps make great use of Thanksgiving leftovers

Happy Thanksgiving everyone. I am sure you are in the midst of preparing your holiday meal, but it is also the time to take a minute and reflect on the important things in life. I am so thankful for my five perfect grandchildren, three wonderful children, a fantastic daughter-in-law, delightful daughter-in-law to be and a very special son-in-law to be. However, the most important person I am so very thankful for is my husband. He is my rock.

So enjoy your wonderful day, indulge in the sights, smells and food,  and be as happy as you can. It is a wonderful day.

  • It’s great to reconnect with friends

I think it’s good to reconnect.  For many years I had pretty much lost contact with friends from high school which was sad since we had been a very tight knit group of gals. Some of us were majorettes; some played in the band; some were cheerleaders.  Others, like me (who had failed miserably at playing the French horn) were just in the stands for every ball game and at Dog n Suds afterwards, packed into whatever family automobile available that night. Then we scattered and it was many years before we began to get together.

  • Pageant winner thanks her local supporters

    Editor:

I would like to take this opportunity to thank those individuals who helped make my experience at The Miss Kentucky State Festival Pageant a successful and memorable journey. First and foremost I would like to thank my entire family for their undying support, both financially and emotionally.

  • Economy is showing improvement

It’s still early, but Kentucky’s economy is starting to show some solid signs of recovery.

Late last month, for example, the state’s Education and Workforce Development Cabinet reported that September’s unemployment rates were down in 95 of our 120 counties when compared to September 2009.

The Cabinet for Economic Development, meanwhile, says that, from the start of the year through September, dozens of companies across the Commonwealth had announced more than $1.13 billion in expansions that are projected to generate 6,600 jobs.

  • Groups offer thanks for successful event

    Editor:

The Kentucky Kruizers, Carroll County Fair Board, Carroll County Tobacco Festival Committee and the train conductor, Chris Pape and wife, Betty, all pulled together to put on a fun two-weekend Halloween event at the General Butler State Resort Park.

We would like to thank all the organizations, Chris and Betty Pape, Carrollton Tourism, Butler State Park and all the great volunteers.

  • Legion thanks community for event

    Editor:

American Legion Post 41 wishes to thank the Carroll County community, especially our veterans, for their attendance at Point Park on Veteran’s Day, Nov. 11. It was a chilly night but we thank everyone would agree that CSM (Ret.) Jimmy Supplee’s vision message and the high school patriotic entertainment was well worth the discomfort.
