  • Still finding reasons to be thankful this holiday season

    Finding reasons to be thankful can be difficult during the holiday season.

    I have never been a big fan of the holidays, even when my now 16-year-old daughter was a toddler and excited by the big family gatherings. Although I have never had a terrible holiday experience, I don’t remember a time when the season did not make me sad.

  • Volunteer asks businesses to embrace festival

    On behalf of the Carroll County Tobacco Festival, I am writing this letter to the editor.

    About 14 people pull together and put on the festival every year. We put this on as a tradition to the community and the farmers now and of the past. We are trying to keep the heritage going on for our younger generation.

  • Fund-raiser beneficiary says thanks for the help

    “Thank you” doesn’t quite express how grateful I felt for all of the love and support shown by my family and friends. The monies raised enabled me to remain in my home and pay several illness related expenses.

    Beyond the monetary support the expressions of love and encouragement from my community helps me have courage and faith during the hard days of recovery that lie ahead.

    First of all I would like to congratulate Mrs. [Kimberly] Temple for her being re-elected to the Trimble County School Board.   • Downtown prepares to celebrate Another Reason to be Thankful

    The election has passed and all eyes are now looking ahead to the start of the holiday season as Thanksgiving quickly approaches.

    There are many reasons to be thankful, besides the fact that we won’t be bombarded with all the negative campaign advertisements.

    Downtown Carrollton also has a lot to be thankful for this year. Our free wireless Internet service continues to expand and strengthen its coverage.

    More than 1,450 people have made use of the free WiFi system, downloading more than 770 gigabytes of information to their computers.

  • Department needs help

    To the editor:

    Due to the loss of a merchant’s sponsorship, the Milton Fire & Rescue Department is currently seeking donations for their Adopt-a-Family program.

    The program provides Trimble County senior citizens and families in need with food, clothing and toys during the Christmas season.

    Please help us insure families in Trimble County have a happy holiday season. Any amount of money donated is greatly appreciated and tax-deductible.
