  • Nothing works unless you do

How many fad diets do you see or do you have pushed in your direction in a weeks time? Have you noticed when you or someone you know lose a noticeable amount of weight or inches the first question is what is your secret? Have you noticed while watching TV or scrolling on social media how many advertisements and fad diets try to suck you in with success stories and pictures?

  • Kentucky has received national awards for the state’s major job announcements

Site Selection is not a magazine most of us would keep on our coffee table, but for those in government and business who track economic development, this publication is one not to be missed.

Fortunately, it has had a lot of good things to say about Kentucky in recent years, and over the past two, it has awarded us its annual Governor’s Cup for having more major job announcements than any other state on a per capita basis.

  • Gibsons back Richardson in Owen election

    Editor:

We would like to encourage the people who are a part of Owen County Rural Electric, to vote for Charlie Richardson as their Director of District I.

He is a person knowledgeable of the electric business, and had a power line construction business for a number of years.

As a life long resident of Owen County he has also been a tobacco and dairy farmer and knows what hard work is.

We have been friends of his since early school days and know him as a caring person who will go out of his way to do you a favor.

  • Four part docu-series gives reasons why people need to find time to cook

In my mind, Summer Reading Program is synonymous with children’s programming. It is a huge component of what we do every summer. It is the one place we feel that we can step in and help the school system end the “summer slide.”

But this year, we decided to incorporate some adult and family programming. We could all stand to learn a little more about living a healthier lifestyle. There is so much information out there, and “healthy lifestyle” can mean so many different things. The obvious answer is exercise and diet. I wish it was that simple.

  • CFD collects $12,200 for Crusade For Children

    Editor:

Through our fundraising efforts this year, we raised $12,200 for the WHAS Crusade For Children. This is another record year, for the third year in a row. We want to thank those who help us accomplish this feat: Westside Fire Department, Worthville Fire Department and the family members of the firefighters who helped us with the door-to-door and roadblocks. Also a big “thank you” goes out to Subway, Hometown Pizza, Snappy Tomato Pizza and Papa John’s Pizza who donated food to feed those doing all the door-to-door walking.

  • Bond running for Owen Electric board

    Editor,

Owen Electric is holding an election for its board of directors. Members can vote at any Owen Electric office during office hours between now and close of business on June 15, or at the annual meeting in Grant County on June 17. My aunt, Ann Bond, is running for re-election to the board. She has served three terms and would like to continue on the board. She would appreciate your vote at any Owen Electric office or at the annual meeting. Any member, or their spouse, of Owen Electric can vote. Thank you.

  • You can’t cardio away bad food choices

Yep, that’s right. Although so many of you try to do just that–make a poor decision then figure you can just cardio it away like it never happened. Nice try, and I applaud your effort, but it is not that simple.

Simply do what you’re supposed to do and this will never be an issue.

Remember, if you are eating for a certain “look,” the cardio isn’t going to control that damage. If you’re just trying to be balanced and healthy, you’re losing your balance.
