Enjoy the exhibits, livestock...

We are so very excited about our Extension exhibits at this year’s Carroll County Fair.

Be sure to stop by to see 4-H and open class exhibits in the exhibit trailer. Also be sure to attend the different livestock shows and animals in the barn. 

Children exhibiting in 4-H or youth divisions are so proud to see the ribbons they have won. We are so proud of the wonderful open class exhibits showcasing the accomplishments of everyone.

C’ton Idol to pay tribute to...

On behalf of the Carroll County Fair Association we would like to invite you to join us for a night of amazing talent and lots of fun. 

Carrollton Idol is the first singing competition to hit the fair in 103 years. Last year was the first year the exciting, heart-stopping show debuted. It held the largest audience to ever hit the fairgrounds holding more than 2,500 people that night. Season two of Carrollton Idol is predicted to have a much bigger crowd this year. There will be performances by the top 12 finalists.

CCMH soon to accept Aetna health...

More than 2,000 area residents in Carroll, Trimble and Gallatin counties who have Aetna health insurance will soon be in-network when receiving services at Carroll County Memorial Hospital or from any of its physicians.

CCMH Chief Executive Officer Michael Kozar announced Monday that the hospital signed a contract to be an Aetna provider Friday, June 14. As of July 15, those covered by Aetna policies will become in-network.

Filtration issues delay pool...

The county pool will open this summer, but when it will has yet to be determined.

Pump and filtration problems have been the culprits behind the delay, Carroll County Parks and Recreation Director Mike Battaglia said in a Monday interview. Opening day is normally around Memorial Day weekend.

Relay to celebrate ACS 100th...

Celebration is the theme of Carroll County’s 2013 Relay for Life event, set for 7 p.m. Friday to 7 a.m. Saturday at the Carroll County Fairgrounds.

Events chairman Teresa Lewis said this year marks the 100th birthday of the American Cancer Society, the organization that benefits from funds raised each year at Relay events nationwide.

A Birthday Hat Contest is one of the new events this year, intended to help Relay team members and other participants with the ACS celebration, Lewis said.

Contractor named for Park to...

Work could begin on the first phase of the long-awaited Park to Park Trails project as early as next week.

Carroll County Fiscal Court awarded the contract for the project to Kemper Construction of Carrollton at its Tuesday, June 11, meeting. Cost of the project is $109,986, with $65,500 of that covered by grant funding secured in 2010 from the Recreational Trails Program of the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Highway Administration.
