Carrollton Village gets $7.57 million renovation

A recently completed renovation at the Carrollton Village apartment complex, located off of Highland Avenue across from Park Lanes shopping center, involved far more than just new paint and carpeting.

The $7.57 million project included replacing doors, windows and heating/air conditioning units and installing low-flow faucets and toilets to make the 80 units more energy efficient. Each unit is now fully accessible to handicapped residents and visitors.

Feeding of the 400

Four-hundred needy families in Carroll County received food and toiletry items Tuesday, June 11, through Feed the Children and Speedway Children’s Charities.

Hwy. 36 headaches to continue until July 3

Weather and broken equipment both played a role in delaying the completion of the new bridge over Locust Creek on Hwy. 36 – and headaches for everyone involved, particularly anyone commuting between Carrollton and Milton.

The new bridge and realigned approaches and roadway were supposed to be finished this week, but officials don’t expect the bridge to reopen now until July 3.

CCCDC hires former NKY Main Street manager

The Carroll County Community Development Corporation (CCCDC) has a new executive director. Bob Yoder took the position on Monday, June 3.

Yoder’s previous experience includes work with Northern Kentucky Community Action, renaissance coordinator for the City of Erlanger and Main Street manager for the City of Newport.

More than 50 antique cars lined up for the Kentucky Kruisers annual car show Saturday.

Organizers this year decided to hold the show earlier in the summer and move it to the entrance of General Butler State Resort Park. Previously, the show was held in September at Point Park, but that location was in heavy demand.

Brent Stucker, who has been president of the organization for six years, said the new location offers more shade and less competition with other events.

Fun on Court
Company faces steep fines for bridge delay

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is levying fines against Judy Construction of Cynthiana, Ky., the firm in charge of the bridge-replacement project at Locust Creek on Hwy. 36.

According to Judy’s contract with District 6, Hwy. 36 was supposed to be reopened to traffic by Saturday, June 8, and the entire project was to be completed by June 30.
