Teachers ready students for testing

Kathryn Winn teachers created a video to the tune of “Thrift Shop” by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis to boost their students’ MAP testing scores. Chandra Miracle raps the lyrics to the song. The lyrics were re-written by Miracle, her daughter Abby Miracle, and teachers Joseph McNeese, Aimee Roos and Andrea Carhart. Mahoney shouldn’t be persecuted

I do not condone drinking and driving and I am sorry about those who were killed in the 1988 bus crash in Carroll County. But I want people to know that Larry Mahoney works every day, he has not been in any trouble with the law, and has done his time.

I do not think the Mothers Against Drunk Driving or anyone else needs to keep persecuting this man. It looks bad.

Jesus said if you are without sin cast the first stone. No one is. We should forgive our brothers as Christ would want us to.

Art club organizing a ‘Paint the Bridge’ exhibit in Madison

The Madison Art Club invites artists to submit entries for a special exhibit “Paint the Bridge” at the Art on Main gallery and gift shop. Paint the Bridge is a non-juried art show coinciding with the community-wide celebration “Bridge Party.....Celebrate” the Slide’ to be held on the Madison riverfront in late July.

Entries must have the Milton-Madison bridge (past, present or future) as the focal subject and can be in any medium, 2-D or 3-D, including photography. Membership in the MAC is not required.

CCHS sports physicals May 14 at high school

Carroll County High School will hold sports physicals for all returning athletes from 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m. May 14 at the high school. The cost is $5.  Students must pick up a packet in the office in advance and fill it out before attending the physical and return it to Richelle Wheeler in the office.

Basketball camps to be held June 3-6

Carroll County High school boys and girls basketball camps will be held June 3-6.

The 2013 Carrollton Child Abuse Prevention Event held on April 26 went great. Champions for a Drug Free Carroll County was able to sponsor the event successfully thanks to a number of community organizations and individuals.
