Relay for Life team to hold...

Music for the Cure Kids Afternoon, sponsored by Lots of Love Relay for Life Team from 2-5 p.m., Saturday, May 18, at Main and Third streets in Carrollton. 

Cost is $5 for unlimited jumping on inflatable, $1 face painting. Hamburgers and hot dogs will be available.

Council to discuss what they...

City leaders delayed action on engineering work for the river walk, saying they to provide input on how the project will look.

Mayor Gene McMurry brought a resolution to Carrollton City Council on Monday night that would authorize him to enter into a contract with an engineering firm to develop plans for the river walk. But council opted to table it for further discussion.

Prestonville approves FY budget...

Prestonville City Commission approved the fiscal year 2013-14 budget on first reading during a special meeting May 6.

The budget shows anticipated expenses of $55,800, despite the fact that the city expects to receive the $137,855 in funding during the year.

The budget won initial approval with no comment from commissioners. It will be up for final approval on second reading at the May 20 meeting.

Head Start schedule reduced for...

Carroll County Head Start students will be on a limited schedule for the final days of the school year due to bus limitations.

Beginning April 29 and through the last day of school May 16, school days have been cut in half. Rather than all students attending Monday through Thursday from 8-1 p.m., 4-year-olds are coming to school Monday and Wednesday and 3-year-olds are coming Tuesday and Thursday.

Superintendent Lisa James said the Head Start bus fleet has been reduced from four to two because of two accidents.
