Teachers ready students for...

Kathryn Winn teachers created a video to the tune of “Thrift Shop” by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis to boost their students’ MAP testing scores. Chandra Miracle raps the lyrics to the song. The lyrics were re-written by Miracle, her daughter Abby Miracle, and teachers Joseph McNeese, Aimee Roos and Andrea Carhart. Track third at HC meet

Ashley Srouder threw over 30 feet in shot put for the first time in her career at the Henry County meet April 30. Stevie Ogburn also had a record night, setting a new school record in triple jump with a jump of 29 feet 1 inch.

Cody Osborne and Michael Burns took first place in the 300-meter hurdles and 400-meter dash, respectively, both new person bests.

Both Carroll County squads finished in third place out of four teams. They competed against Henry County, Eminence and Shelby County.

God never promised he would give...

A few weeks back I wrote about “What’s making me happy,” which got a great response from people.

Some sent emails or stopped me in the market to tell me what’s making them happy. Seems everyone was riding the happiness train.

But then someone pointed out that God never promised us happiness and that those who pursue it never obtain it.

There’s always a buzz kill in every crowd.

Still, the person had a good point and one worth exploring.

Emerald Ash Borer has reached...

The presence of the Emerald Ash Borer, a serious invasive pest of ash trees, has been confirmed in Carroll County.

The Emerald Ash Borer can attack all species of ash in landscapes, forests and woodlots. The insect will attack stressed and healthy trees greater than about 1.5 inches in diameter.
