  • June 4 golf scramble to benefit Lady Panthers’ basketball team
    The Panther Hoop Club is hosting a golf scramble on Saturday, June 4 at Fairway Golf Course in Wheatley, Ky. Proceeds will benefit the Lady Panther basketball program. The shotgun start is at 2:30 p.m. The cost is $40 per player, with a discount available for Fairway Golf Club members. There will be four players per team. There will be prizes for the winners, and food and drinks provided after the round. A longest drive contest and a closest to the hole on Par 3’s contest also will be held.
  • 2011 CCHS Volleyball camp
    The Carroll County High School volleyball team is hosting camp June 20-22 from 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. for incoming fourth graders and up at the high school gym. The pre-registration cost is $50 for all three days if received by June 12 or $60 at the door ($20 per day). Pre-registration information may be mailed to the high school at 1706 Highland Avenue, Attention: Kristen Arbinger, Volleyball.
  • 2011 Panther basketball camp
    Carroll County Panther Basketball camp is June 6-9 at Carroll County High School from 9 a.m. to noon. Those students, girls and boys, entering second through eighth grade may attend. Registration is $35 pre-registered and $40 the first day of camp. Basketball fundamentals both individually and in a team setting will be emphasized. The students will participate in teaching stations, lectures, competitions and games. Each participant will receive a camp T-shirt and certificate. Registration brochures are available at all of the Carroll County schools.
  • Ruffolo commits to play volleyball at Butler
    Brooke Ann Ruffolo, of Farmington Hills, Mich. has committed to play volleyball for Butler University in Indianapolis, Ind. This past season Brooke helped lead her high school team to the Michigan State Volleyball Finals and  received second team all-state honors. She is the daughter of Joe and Cheryl Ann Persall Ruffolo of Farmington Hills; the granddaughter of Margaret Ann Persall of Carrollton, Ky. and  the late Glenn Persall; and Angeline Ruffolo of Dayton, Ohio.
  • Legends game honors Coach Coots
    Carroll County High School head coach Jay Jones hit a grand slam in the top of the fifth inning to give the black team an 18-8 win over the gold team in the second annual Bob Coots Legends game held Saturday at Panther Field. The score is especially significant because Coots was No. 18 when he was the Panthers’ head coach. Jones said Coots coached in the 1980s and 90s and died last year, which is why the game began. Jones said Coots was a pitching coach, but knew all aspects of the game.
  • Basketball camp raised funds for Relay for Life team
    Editor: Carrollton Federal Bank sponsored Hoop Shooters basketball camp and Little Rookies basketball tournament during spring break. The event was held at the Kathryn Winn Primary School. There were 25 children who attended the camp and four teams that participated in the tourney.

    Youngsters looking for something to do during Spring Break can have fun and improve their basketball skills at the same time. Hoop Shooters Basketball Camp will be held at Kathryn Winn Primary’s gym Saturday, April 2 through Monday, April 4 from 4-6:30 p.m. each day. Boys and girls ages six to 12 are encouraged to attend.
