  • CCHS Cheerleading Camp July 28-Aug. 1
    CCHS Panthers Cheerleading Camp will be  from 5-7 p.m., July 28-Aug. 1 at Carroll County High School. Camp is for children ages four through fifth grade. Children will learn the fundamentals of cheer, including motions, jumps, tumbling, cheers and chants. Campers will perform Friday, Aug. 1 at 5:30 p.m. for their family and friends. Admission to the performance is $1. The cost is $25 per child and $10 for each additional child. In order to be guaranteed a t-shirt, registration must be turned in by July 25.

  • Craig graduates from Hanover
    D.C. Craig, a 2010 graduate of Carroll County High School, graduated from Hanover College May 24. Craig earned a scholarship to play baseball for Hanover and played all four years of his college career. Over four years, Craig played in 88 games and started 60 of them. He hit .246 in his career with 57 hits –17 doubles –and 34 RBIs. Craig is the son of David and Shelley Craig of Carrollton. His younger brother, Dillon, is a rising sophomore at Hanover College and also plays baseball for the Hanover Panthers.

    Carroll County High School tennis held its first youth camp June 4-6. Overall, there were about 30 campers between the older and younger groups.

    Carroll County Parks and Recreation T-Ball and Blastball teams played Monday night. More photos will be in next week’s issue and online at www.mycarrollnews.com.
  • 2014 Carroll County Youth Tennis Camp
    Carroll County Panther youth tennis camp will be held June 4-6, at the high school tennis courts for incoming 3rd-12th grade students. Students in 7th-12th grades will attend from 5-6:30 p.m. and third-sixth grades from 7-8:30 p.m. The cost is $40 for all three days if pre-registered by May 23. The cost is $50 at the door or $20 per day. Each camper will receive a t-shirt.
  • 2014 Panthers Basketball Camp
    Carroll County Panther basketball camp will be held from 9 a.m.-noon June 16-19, at Carroll County High School. The camp is for boys entering grades first-eighth. The cost is $40 if pre-registered and $45 the first day of camp. Each participant will receive a camp t-shirt and certificate. Fundamentals of the game of basketball, both individually and in a team setting, will be emphasized. The players will participate in teaching stations, lectures, competitions and games.  
  • Carroll competes in Special Olympics
    Carroll County Special Olympics for track and field, area 4, was held, Saturday, May 10, at St. Xavier in Louisville, Ky. Chaperons were Kayla and Kim Williamson, Travis Dermon, Bobby Maines, April Smith and Beth Lynn. The following is a list of winners and their placements: Michelle Branes: first in 50 meter walk; and first in softball throw. Rhonda Burns: third in 50 meter run; and third in softball throw. Thomas Granger: second in 50-meter dash and second in shot put.
