  • Panthers beat Butler, fall to Bethlehem, Crittenden in LaRue Co. tournament

    The Carroll County Panthers basketball team lost two out of three games Dec. 29-31, at the National Guard Holiday Classic at LaRue County High School.

    The Panthers won their first game against Butler County, but lost to a tough Bethlehem team in round two. Head coach Carroll Yager said he thought his team played one of their best games all season against the Bardstown squad, but came back and played one of their worst against Crittenden County.

  • Lady Panthers improved in 2nd half, but not enough to overcome TOs

    The Carroll County Lady Panthers outscored the Russell Red Devils 28-20 in the second half, but it was not enough to overcome a turnover-laden first half, as the Lady Panthers lost, 56-43, in day two of the North American Stainless Basketball Classic Tuesday, Dec. 30. Carroll County took on North Oldham Dec. 31, in their final game of the tournament.

    “The second half was as well as we’ve played all year; (the) first half was probably as bad as we’ve played,” head coach Paul Stone said.

  • Missed opportunity: Ladies lose in OT to North Oldham

    North Oldham outscored Carroll County 11-5 in overtime to hand the Lady Panthers their third straight loss Dec. 31, in the North American Stainless Holiday Classic. Scott High School defeated Collins High School, 66-46, to win the championship.

  • Lady Panthers lose to Ludlow in NAS tourney first round

    In the battle of the Lady Panthers, Ludlow outscored host Carroll County 17-9 in the fourth quarter to win, 45-37, Monday, Dec. 29, in the opening round of the North American Stainless Basketball Classic.

    It was a neck-and-neck battle the entire way, as the two teams entered the fourth quarter knotted at 28. But it was the Ludlow Lady Panthers who were able to put the game away.

    Girls win at Harrison

    Lady Panthers senior center Lauren Moore scored 16 points and pulled down 14 rebounds in a 42-36 road win Dec. 23, against the Harrison County Fillies.

    Carroll County (4-4) evened up their record with the win.

    Miranda Groseclose led the Lady Panthers in scoring with 17 points. Other Lady Panthers scoring were Chasity Burgin with five points, and Jenah Roberts and Abigail Aulbach each scoring two points.

  • Panthers win Swauger championship

    The Panthers basketball team brought home an early Christmas present for Carroll County High School: a championship trophy.

    Carroll won three games in two days to win the Swauger Holiday Classic, held at Bellevue High School Dec. 22-23. Senior Taylor Schirmer was named MVP of the tournament. Juniors Isaiah Hogan and Jackson “Boo” Donahue were also named to the All-Tournament Team.

  • Panthers prevail with 51-48 OT win over district foe Henry Co.

    Carroll County’s young boys basketball team took a giant stride forward in the 51-48 overtime victory over 31st District opponent Henry County.

    With Carroll County graduating the majority of its game minutes the team only had one player on the floor in the overtime that had been in that type of game.

    “This was the first time that most of these guys had been in that situation,” Carroll County head coach Carroll Yager said. “ This was our fifth game of the season and we had not been in game like this.”
