The fourth time was the charm for the Panthers, as they finally completed their district matchup with Owen County. The two teams began playing April 16 and Carroll led 8-0 before rain delayed the game for almost a month.

Neither team seemed too excited to play Monday night, head coach Jimmy Ray observed, but the Panthers were able to add to their advantage, winning 9-0.

Ashley Srouder threw over 30 feet in shot put for the first time in her career at the Henry County meet April 30. Stevie Ogburn also had a record night, setting a new school record in triple jump with a jump of 29 feet 1 inch.

Cody Osborne and Michael Burns took first place in the 300-meter hurdles and 400-meter dash, respectively, both new person bests.

Both Carroll County squads finished in third place out of four teams. They competed against Henry County, Eminence and Shelby County.

Two productive innings on offense and solid defense throughout were the keys to Carroll County baseball’s 7-2 district win over Henry County Tuesday, April 30.

With the victory, the Panthers and the Wildcats split contests. If Carroll beats Owen in their rain continuation game Friday, the Panthers will clinch the No. 1 seed because the tie breaker is decided by run differential, head coach Jimmy Ray said. Henry beat Carroll by one run, 11-10,  April 9. But Carroll won by five runs.
