Girls soccer - No. 2 seed vs. No. 3 Henry County on Oct. 8 at 6 p.m. at Owen County

Boys soccer - No. 1 seed vs. No. 4 Henry County on Oct. 9 at 6 p.m. at Owen County

It was a very physical and tense-at-times match, but the Panthers soccer team outscored the visiting Spencer County Bears 6-2 to win on senior night, Sept. 25.

“I was very happy for all of our seniors,” head coach Ben Crutcher said. “They all contributed to this win tonight.”

The Panthers will graduate five seniors who have all played huge roles in the squad’s success this year: Jacob Beach, Jay Damron, Josh McCarty, Chase Osborne and Brandon Stewart.

After two straight losses, the Panther football team rebounded Friday night with a big win over district rival Gallatin County, 57-27, on Sept. 28 in Warsaw.

The Panthers defense forced the Wildcats to turn the ball over seven times – four interceptions and three fumbles – giving the ball back to its offense, which pounded the ball down Gallatin’s throats. As a team, Carroll rushed 34 times for 458 yards and seven touchdowns, and committed just one turnover – a fumble on a punt.

It is hard to score if you cannot serve the ball over the net.

Well the Lady Panthers did not have any trouble with that Tuesday, Sept. 18 as they connected on 89 percent of their serves, helping them defeat the visiting Lady Rebels 3-1.

“Strong serving, aggressive serving, made the difference tonight,” Carroll head coach Kristen Hooper said. There was an optional serving practice after school before the game; not all of the varsity players came, Hooper said, but you could see the difference in the ones that did.
