    Osborne earns PR at NCKC Championship

    The Panthers competed at the NCKC Championship meet Tuesday, April 23 at Walton-Verona. The other competitors were Walton-Verona, Trimble County, Henry County, Owen County and Williamstown.
    Senior Brandon Franklin (shot put) and juniors Cody Osborne (300-meter hurdles) and Tre Burgin (pole vault) led the team with second place finishes. Osborne’s 300-meter hurdle time was his new personal best.

  • Baseball Beat | May 1, 2013

    Panthers pound Warriors, 30-1

    John Michael Adams hit for the cycle in Carroll County’s 30-1 win over Eminence April 25. The junior third baseman was 6-6 at the plate, hitting three singles, a double, a triple and a home run, collecting six RBIs.

    Brandon Stewart also was perfect at the plate, 3-3 with two singles, a double and three RBIs. Zakk Hicks got one hit and made it count, a two-RBI home run.

  • CCHS basketball players honored for academic achievements

    The following Carroll County High School basketball players were named First Academic All-State: Kristen “Doodle” Amick, Jadyn Bailey, Natalie Bennett, Trey Boles, Austin Crowell, Raenah Hawkins, Taylor Hill, Isaiah Hogan, Makena Kindoll, Brad Osborne, Brandon Stewart, Kelly Wheeler and Jacob Wise.

    The following were named honorable mention: Chasity Burgin, Jackson Donahue, Jacob Evans, Teresa Garrett, Lauren Moore, Tatum McIntyre, Stevie Ogburn, Hannah Robbins and Sadie Smith.

  • Ladies strike out vs. Gallatin in NCKC

    The third time was not the charm for the Lady Panthers, as mistakes proved costly in their 4-3 loss to Gallatin County Monday in the NCKC tournament. It was their third straight 4-3 loss to the Lady Wildcats this season.

    “We had the opportunity to win the game and stop some of these runs,” a disappointed head coach Dennis Hawkins said after the game. “Had we made the plays, we wouldn’t have lost it.”

  • Carroll tops Trimble for third time

    Carroll County’s Lady Panthers took advantage of an early lead to trip up the Trimble County Lady Raiders in high school softball for the third time this season, winning 12-4 Friday at Bedford.

    “They just got a jump on us and it’s hard to come back like that,” Trimble head coach Tonya Black said following the game.

  • Five tennis seniors honored

    The Carroll County High School tennis teams honored five seniors Monday night before their final home match of the regular season. The girls team graduated Lyndie Burns, Megan Harris, Pooja Patel and Andrea Williams, while the boys team graduated Thomas Hill.

    Unfortunately, Carroll was not able to bring home a win, losing to Oldham County 0-5 in both the boys and the girls matches.

    Carroll beats Gallatin

    Carroll County baseball traveled to Warsaw Thursday, April 18, and defeated Gallatin County, 12-1. The Panthers held a 6-1 advantage heading into the top of the seventh and added six more runs in the inning. Senior Derrick Nickell got the win on the mound, pitching five innings, striking out three batters and walking one. Senior A.J. Dixon came in for relief, pitching two innings, striking out one, walking one and hitting one batter with a pitch.

    Trimble boys win, 3-0

    In a rain-shortened match, Trimble County’s boys tennis team defeated Carroll County in Bedford Wednesday, April 17. The girls teams only played two matches, so it did not qualify as a full match.

  • Carroll comeback defeats Trimble

    The Trimble County Lady Raiders traveled to Carrollton ready to play on April 17. They were determined not to have a repeat episode of their last meeting with the Lady Panthers just five days before, in which Carroll County traveled to their new softball complex and handed them an embarrassing 18-1 loss in the 8th Region All-A Classic.

    “We came more prepared tonight,” Trimble head coach Tonya Black said. “We weren’t prepared Class A at all. I knew we could play with them, it was just a matter of us doing it.”

  • Baseball gets blowout win over Villa Madonna

    The Panthers scored nine runs in the second inning to put the game out of reach early, rolling to a 12-1 win over Villa Madonna Monday, April 22.

    Sophomore Austin Dunn had a fantastic night at the plate, going 3-3 with a triple and two doubles, good for six RBIs.

    “He hit the ball hard last night and did a good job,” head coach Jimmy Ray said.
