    Carroll survives Henry

    The Panthers rode home from New Castle May 6 with a closely contested district win over border rival Henry County. Carroll County won, 9-7. The two teams will meet again in the first round of the 31st District playoffs at 8 p.m. May 20 at Henry County.

  • ‘The curse’ hits; Panthers lose to Wildcats after All ‘A’

    They call it the “All ‘A’ curse.” And the Carroll County Panthers baseball team fell victim to it Monday night, losing 9-3 to district rival Gallatin County at Panther Field.

    With the loss, Gallatin County should claim the No. 1 seed in the upcoming 31st District Tournament, with the Panthers taking the No. 2 seed. According to head coach Jimmy Ray, Henry County should be ranked third and Owen County fourth once the district tournament begins May 19.

  • Panthers fall in Final Four; Hicks, Dunn All-Tourney team

    Carroll County rallied late to pull within a run of Danville in the semifinals of the All ‘A’ state baseball tournament Sunday. But the Admirals put their foot on the gas in the bottom of the sixth to pull away and win, 7-3. Danville played Beechwood in the championship and lost 9-6 in eight innings. The state tournament was held at the Lexington Legend’s Whitaker Bank Park in Lexington, Ky.

  • McMahan leads Panthers to win

    Freshman pitcher Evan McMahan earned his first career varsity win May 1 at Eminence, 16-2. He threw five innings, striking out two batters, walking one and giving up four hits. He also walked twice at the plate.

    After the Warriors plated one run in the bottom of the first, the Panthers went on an offensive flurry. They were also helped by the Eminence pitching staff, which collectively walked 13 batters.

    Seth Hicks hit a three-run blast over the left field fence. He also hit two singles, walked and earned six RBIs.

  • Panthers earn third at MCIT

    Carroll County finished in third place in the Madison Courier Invitational Tournament held April 25-26. The Panthers lost in the first round to Madison Consolidated High School April 25, but defeated Shawe Memorial High School and Austin High School the next day.

    Seth Hicks, Keifer McIntyre and John Michael Adams were named to the MCIT All-Tournament Team.

  • Carroll beats Hancock, 8-1, in state All ‘A’

    While it may have been Kentucky Derby Saturday in the rest of the state, for the Carroll County Panthers, Saturday, May 3, was all about baseball. The Panthers shot out of the gate and jumped on top early against Hancock County, eventually winning 8-1 to advance to the semifinals Sunday of the All ‘A’ state tournament, held at Whitaker Bank Park in Lexington, Ky.

  • Track competes at Henry

    Sophomore Brandon Kruzan earned two first-place finishes in the 110-meter and 300-meter hurdles May 1, at Henry County. Along with host Henry County, Carroll County competed against Owen County, Trimble County, Frankfort and Eminence. Kruzan finished with a time of 16.56 seconds in the 110 meters and 47.02 seconds in the 300 meters.

    Senior Michael Burns also earned a first place in the 400-meter dash (57.79 seconds). He also finished in third in the 200-meter dash (25.88 seconds) and fourth in the long jump (18 feet 4 inches).

  • Forms now available at CCHS front office

    Carroll County High School will offer sports physicals from 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. May 12. The cost is $5, and forms are available in the front office.
