  • Lady Panthers pull out win over Henry

    Down 20-10 heading into the fourth quarter, things looked bleak for the Carroll County Lady Panthers. The team had played well on defense, forcing Henry County to turn the ball over 24 times in the game, but continued to struggle on their shooting, hitting just 5-36 shots for 14 percent from the field through three quarters.

    But just when it seemed like the Lady Wildcats (3-10) had the game in hand, the Lady Panthers (4-10) started hitting shots. Carroll went on a 17-2 run in the fourth to pull out a 27-22 come-from-behind win on Tuesday, Jan. 3.

  • Breakout performances by Panthers in Louisville tourney

    The Panthers (6-6) posted a strong showing in the Beth Haven Holiday Classic, finishing 2-1 in the three-day event Dec. 29-31.

    The first game against Portland Christian came down to the wire, as Carroll senior John Walls tipped in the game-winning bucket, 61-59.

  • Ladies continue to improve

    The Lady Panthers (3-10) finished 1-2 in the Lady Cougar After Christmas Tournament in McLean County Dec. 27-29.

    Head coach Randy Mefford said he believes  his team improved during the tournament and benefitted from the experience of playing three more road games in three days. Before Christmas, the Lady Panthers also competed in a three-day tournament, the Lady Dragon Invitational at South Oldham.

  • Lucky fan will have chance to win $5,000

    On Jan. 3, there’s going to be something exciting happening in the Carroll County High School gymnasium.  The “Battle of the Cats” sponsored by United Citizens Bank & Trust Co will be happening and one lucky fan at the game that night will have the opportunity to win $5,000 for themselves and $5,000 for the school.

    The Carroll County Panthers are playing the Wildcats of Henry County, with the boys tipping off at 6 p.m. and the girls tipping off at 7:30 p.m.

  • Upcoming Events - Dec. 28, 2011

    On Tuesday, Jan. 3, Carroll County High School  will honoring the induction of former Lady Panther Pam Browning into the University of Kentucky Hall of Fame. There will be a short ceremony immediately following the boys varsity game against Henry County at approximately 7:15 p.m. The girls varsity game against Henry County will follow.

    On Saturday, Jan. 7, the jersey of  former  Lady Panther Whitney Ballinger will be retired in a ceremony before the girls varsity game with Gallatin County at approximately 7:15 p.m.

  • Lady Panthers 1-2 in South Oldham tourney

    The Lady Panthers lost to South Oldham and Franklin County to finish 1-2 in the Lady Dragon Invitational Dec. 19-21. Carroll won their opening game against Southern High School, 34-22.

    On Dec. 20, South Oldham shot 67 percent from the field and won 84-20. Makena Kindoll led the Lady Panthers in scoring with six points, followed by Kirsten and Brittany Arvin with three points. Lauren Moore, Andie Hardesty, Kelsey Ogden and Nikki Hill each scored two points.

  • Panthers win first round

    The Carroll County Panthers defeated the Silver Grove Big Trains 59-28 in the opening round of the North American Stainless Classic basketball tournament on Wednesday, Dec. 21. The Panthers outscored their opponent 34-9 in the first half to roll to an easy win, breaking a four-game losing streak.

    Dallas Gibson led the Panthers in scoring with 14 points, followed by John Walls, 10; John Perry, 7; Jay Damron, 6; Evan Mefford, 6; Patrick Booth, 5; Dakota Corbin, 4; Travis Ellis, 4; Brandon Stewart, 2; and Trey Boles, 1.

  • Carroll defeats Villa Madonna, advances to NAS Classic championship v. Gallatin

    The Carroll County Panthers hit 17 free throws in the fourth quarter to close out a 50-34 win against the Villa Madonna Blue Lightning in the second round of the North American Stainless Classic basketball tournament Thursday night. The Panthers advanced to the championship game Friday against Gallatin County.

  • Wildcats win, Panthers runners-up in tourney

    Turnovers were the determining factor in Gallatin County’s 58-46 victory over Carroll County in the North American Stainless Classic championship Friday night. The Wildcats committed just seven miscues compared to the Panthers’ 25.

  • Basketball briefs - Dec. 21, 2011

    Boys lose to Gallatin

    The Panthers lost 59-44 to the Wildcats of Gallatin County Friday, Dec. 16 on the road. Carroll will participate in the North American Stainless Classic tournament beginning Wednesday, Dec. 21 at home. They will take on Silver Grove at 8:15 p.m.
