  • Panthers ‘never stopped believing’ in heart-stopping win over Trimble

    Trimble County’s Skiler Alexander toed the charity stripe with 19.4 seconds remaining in a frenzied game with border rival Carroll County—a contest where the momentum had swung back and forth like the pendulum on a grandfather clock. Alexander and his Raiders had watched a 14-point, 57-43 lead gradually disappear over the final five minutes of the game.

  • Panthers ready to work, improve in ‘11-’12 season

    The Carroll County High School Panthers basketball team returns two of its top three leading scorers from last season in juniors Dallas Gibson and Trey Boles. However, the majority of the team lacks experience, and the schedule does not vary much from last season’s in which the Panthers finished 5-21, winless in 31st District play.

  • Hitting The Hardwood

    Basketball season begins for the Carroll County High School Panthers and Lady Panthers. The Black and Gold scrimmage games were held on Nov. 22. Both teams opened their season with a win. The girls defeated Eminence 54-17 at home, while the boys defeated Dayton 77-62 on the road.

  • Lady Panthers look to build on successes from last season

    After being unceremoniously bounced from the 31st District tournament by Gallatin County, the Carroll County High School girls’ basketball team is ready to get back on track.

    Leading the way is senior Hannah Devine, who averaged 25.3 points per game last season, good enough for third-best in the state. She also connected on 80 3-point baskets, second highest in the state, and was named to the All-District, All-A and All-Conference teams.

  • Hogan, Meadows compete in golf tournament

    The Kentucky Golf Coaches Association with the help of the Kentucky Junior Golf Foundation hosted the 2011 KGCA Senior All-Star Invitational Tournament on Nov. 5 at Heritage Hill Golf Club in Shepherdsville, Ky.

    Carroll County High School seniors Quincy Hogan and Jacob Meadows were invited to participate. Hogan shot a 96, while Meadows shot a 110 on the 18-hole course.

    The senior class student athletes were chosen based on their achievements on the course throughout the 2011 season and their coach’s recommendations.

  • Indians rout Panthers 68-0 in playoff matchup

    The Holy Cross (Covington) Indians ended the Carroll County Panthers’ season for the third time in four years with their 68-0 shutout Friday night in the opening round of the Class 2A playoffs at Holmes High School.

    The Panthers entered the game with the top passing defense in 2A, but was shredded for four touchdowns by quarterback Kyle Fuller. “Their front line on both sides of the ball was very good,” head coach Mike Weedman said. “(We) had opportunities early, and they were just pretty darn good.”

  • Carroll wins 28-12 on Senior Night

    Carroll junior Tyshawn Embs made his presence known as he returned to the lineup and rushed for 222 yards on 15 carries and two touchdowns to help propel the Panthers over the visiting Dayton Greendevils 28-12 on Senior Night.

    “It was so refreshing to see Tyshawn have the game that he did,” head coach Mike Weedman said. “He needed that game; he needed that game for himself. Our team needed him to have that game because he’s had a rough couple of weeks.”

  • Elementary, middle school Panthers run last meet of 2011

    The elementary and middle school Panthers competed in their final meet of the 2011 season Saturday morning at the Henry County Renaissance Run. Head coach Joe Creager said the team had great results and brought home two Top 10 trophies and three Top 25 medals.

    “It was a very cold morning but that didn’t slow the Panthers down,” he said. “Thanks to everyone who has helped make this a great season. Hope to see everyone back next year.”
