  • Lady Panthers hang tough against Frankfort

    Despite missing a few varsity starters, the Carroll County girls soccer team held tough with the visiting Frankfort Lady Panthers, losing 1-0 Wednesday, Sept. 19.

    Carroll head coach Greg Damron said both teams were suffering in numbers because of injuries, so they decided to play the varsity game first. Key starters goalie Nicki States, Kirsten Arvin and Jordan Bailey all sat out the game, so Carroll’s JV players filled in the holes.

  • Big plays dominate in Bearcats’ win over Panthers, 27-7

    If football games were only played in three quarters, Carroll would have come out ahead, 7-3, in their Friday night match-up with district rival Walton-Verona. Instead, a disastrous second quarter proved too much to recover from as the Bearcats beat the Panthers 27-7 at Panther field.

  • XC competes at Henry County

    All of the junior varsity runners finished in the top 10 Tuesday, Sept. 18 as the Panther running team competed in an NCKC meet at Henry County.

    The JV Panthers ran a one-mile course. Fifth grader Clara Tuttle finished in 4th place in the girls race with a time of 8:45.75, while sophomore Kristen Doan finished in 8th place with a time of 11:16.68.

  • Lady Panthers fall 3-1 to Owen County

    Monday night’s district match-up against Owen County was more than just a soccer game. The Lady Panthers players and coaches sported pink uniforms and the initials “BH” in Sharpie on their hands in support of Carroll County Cancer Awareness Night.

  • Abbott, Beckham, Supplee play in final home match

    The boys golf team said goodbye to seniors Nick Abbott, Zach Beckham and Kyle Supplee in style: They defeated Gallatin County 170-200.

    Levi Stephenson led the team, shooting a 40, followed by Abbott’s 42. Supplee and Blake Belcher each shot a 44, followed by Clint Burgess, 48, and Beckham, 49.

  • Tigers romp Panthers, 30-8, for first loss of season

    The wheels fell off the Panther Express Friday night as the Bellevue Tigers came to town on homecoming night and delivered Carroll their first loss of the season, 30-8.

    The Panthers offense was stymied for most of the night, and they turned the ball over four times – two fumbles and two interceptions – and also had a punt blocked.

    Their defense forced one turnover, a second-quarter fumble that led to their only scoring drive of the night.

  • Boys soccer defeats Owen for district lead

    After two 3-1 losses to the Rebels in the Owen County Invitational Tournament and the All-A Tournament, the Panthers had had enough. And when the pressure was on, they made it count.

    The Carroll County boys soccer team beat Owen 2-1 Tuesday, Sept. 11 in a hard-fought, grind-out, physical match to give them an undefeated district record and first place in the 31st District.

  • XC competes at Grant

    Fifth grader Clara Tuttle finished 19th out of 120 runners in the 1-mile race, while four high school runners made their season debuts in the 39th Annual Grant County Invitational held at Sherman Elementary Saturday.

    The day started out cold and rainy for the girls varsity 5K race, head coach Joe Creager said in an e-mail. The Lady Panthers were led by junior Sierra Martinez, making her debut for the team as she is also playing soccer this fall. She finished with a time of 27:51.9. Also running for the girls team was sophomore Kristen Doan, who ran a time of 33:51.9.

  • Carroll girls defeat Gallatin
  • Panthers host meet

    The Panther running team hosted an NCKC meet against conference rivals Trimble County, Walton-Verona, Henry County, Williamstown and Gallatin County at General Butler State Resort Park, Sept. 4.

    The night began with a JV race, where Carroll fifth grader Clara Tuttle finished in 6th place with a time of 16:53:43 in the two-mile race. Sophomore Kristen Doan finished in 14th place for the girls with a time of 24:37.84.
