  • Panthers hold onto 7-2 win at Bellevue

    The Carroll football team pulled out a 7-2 defensive victory Friday night at Bellevue to keep their record spotless at 5-0. The Panther ‘D’ allowed no offensive scores and just 167 total yards, with the Tigers (3-2) scoring their only points on a safety in the fourth quarter.

    “I can’t say enough about the job the defense did,” Weedman said. “Casey Breeden and Nick Carroll had great games. Travis Branum made some great plays, and our defensive ends Logan Doll and Duane Robbins played very disciplined.”

  • Streak ends: Carroll wins over W’town

    The Lady Panthers volleyball team is back to its winning ways.

    After losing 11 straight, Carroll defeated visiting Williamstown, 2-1, (18-25, 25-21, 25-21) Tuesday night.

    “I think we finally turned a corner, and it’s been a long time coming,” head coach Kristen Hooper said. “I’m really, really happy with the way the girls played tonight.”

  • Girls golf brief

    The Lady Panthers finished about the middle of the pack last weekend at the Henry Clay Invitational in Lexington. The Lady Panthers shot 455 for sixth place on a course that previously held the Ladies’ Senior Open.

    Quincy Hogan was the team Medalist and received All-State points, shooting 89. Also scoring for the girls’ golf team were Hannah McMahan, 117; Elisha Rabago, 124; Ashli Childs, 125; and Ciara Hamilton, 148.

  • Girls’ golf shoots low 198 on senior night

    The Lady Panthers sent lone senior Quincy Hogan off with a victory Tuesday, Sept. 13 over the Lady Demons of Williamstown at General Butler State Resort Park.

    The girls shot a 198, the lowest team score in recent memory. “We set a goal a couple years ago to break 200, and … we did it!” head coach Jay Jones said.

    Hogan shot a 40 for medalist honors, however it was an average round for her. The rest of the team stepped up and fired some very impressive scores, Jones said.

  • Varsity Lady Panthers take 2nd in home meet

    The Panther cross country team was in action Tuesday, Sept. 13 at General Butler State Resort Park for an NCKC meet against rivals Trimble, Owen, Henry, Gallatin, Walton-Verona and Eminence. The younger Panthers did not compete because they had a meet on Thursday at Switzerland County.
    In the junior varsity race, freshman Krystin Doan vastly improved in her second meet as a Panther, finishing the 3K course in 23:00.61.

  • Girls varsity place 2nd, boys 4th

    Haley Dermon won the junior varsity/middle school girls’ race with a time of 17 mins 39 secs in the Carroll cross country team’s first NCKC meet of the season on Sept. 6. The Lady Panthers finished the meet in second place behind Trimble, and the Panthers finished in fourth place. Also competing in the meet were Henry, Owen, Gallatin and Eminence.

    Lady Panthers defeat Gallatin County

    The Lady Panthers golf team defeated the Lady Wildcats 205-227 on Sept. 1. Quincy Hogan medaled, shooting a 41. Taylor Hayden shot a 53, followed by Hannah McMahan, 55; Ashli Childs, 56; Elisha Rabago, 59; Ciara Hamilton, 59; and Jadyn Bailey, 60.

  • Girls’ soccer ties Frankfort, 0-0

    Light rain fell from the sky Wednesday night as the Carroll County Lady Panthers battled the Frankfort Lady Panthers in their first home soccer game of the season. Not only did they share mascots, but the two teams were evenly matched on the field as well. So it was not surprising that the final score would also be identical, 0-0.

  • Carroll defeats KCD 16-14 away

    The Carroll County football team traveled down to Louisville Friday night and returned with a satisfying 16-14 win over Kentucky Country Day, retribution for the 27-7 home loss suffered last season.

    On the opening possession, the Panther (4-0) defense held the Bearcats (3-1) to a three-and-out, forcing a punt. On Carroll’s first play from scrimmage, senior Carson Butcher broke away for a 60-yard touchdown run. The point after kick by senior Ben Newby gave the visitors a 7-0 lead and the momentum.

  • Cross Country meet at Grant County

    The Panther cross country team competed in the 38th annual Grant County Invite Saturday held at Sherman Elementary. Head coach Joe Creager said the course was very fast and several records were broken, including the varsity boys and girls 5K course and the elementary girls 1 mile course.
