  • Lady Panthers lose in first round of NCKC

    While the Lady Panthers racked up the hits, they were unable to translate them into runs, as Carroll lost to Walton-Verona, 8-2, Sunday in the first round of the NCKC Tournament.

    Down 3-0 heading into the fourth inning, the Lady Panthers (3-10) matched the Lady Bearcats (16-5) in the fourth and fifth innings. Unfortunately, Carroll could not muster any more to make a comeback.

    The Lady Panthers registered eight hits compared to the Lady Bearcats’ 10 hits.

  • Panthers fall to Colts in All A

    The Carroll County Panthers’ run to the All A Sweet Sixteen ended Friday with a 17-1 loss to 6th Region Champion DeSales High School in Louisville.

    “They were better than us Friday in every facet of the game,” Carroll head coach Jay Jones said.

    Lady Panthers net 5-0 win over Gallatin

    Carroll County girls’ tennis team defeated Gallatin County 5-0 at home Thursday. Head coach Larry Morgan said Tory Bickers turned her ankle during the match, but recovered to get the win. The team has won five consecutive matches heading into the NCKC tournament.

    The tournament has been rescheduled for Thursday at the Carroll County High School and county park for both girls and boys matches.

  • Solid hitting, pitching leads to Panther All A title

    The Carroll County Panthers struck early and often en route to a 11-0 drubbing of Trimble County in the Eighth Region All A championship game at Bedford Tuesday April 19.

    The Panthers were the home team on the scoreboard by the design of the tournament bracket and played like the home team on the field. In the bottom of the first inning Carroll’s leadoff hitter, eventual tournament MVP Zach Wise, rode the third pitch off Trimble starter Jimmy Duncan beyond the outfield fence to get the Panther offense hammering.

  • Carroll softball splits wins with visiting Notre Dame

    The Carroll County softball team took a giant leap forward in their doubleheader against visiting Notre Dame before falling slightly backwards again. The Lady Panthers shutout the Pandas 10-0 in game one, but followed that up with a 10-1 loss in game two.

  • Track team finishes 2nd, 3rd in home meet

    The Carroll County High School track and field team competed against Williamstown, Walton-Verona, Grant County, Trimble County, Owen County, Holmes High School and Holy Cross of Covington Tuesday, April 19 at Grant. The boys’ team finished in second place behind Holmes, while the girls’ team finished in third place behind rivals Trimble County and Walton-Verona.

  • Boys’ tennis loses to Shelby County, 2-3

    Carroll County fell 2-3 at home to Shelby County Tuesday April 19. Head coach Juan Fernandez said his team is not playing at its full potential. “We can blame the lack of practice due to the weather (and) the changes due to players leaving, but ultimately it’s our fault,” he said. “Some matches we have lost that we should not (have) lost due to the lack of confidence. We play the first few games, and we get behind and ultimately we just give up.”

  • Boys’ tennis defeats Grant, 4-1

    The Carroll boys’ tennis team overpowered first-year program Grant County, 4-1, on Tuesday April 12. While Carroll won most of the matches, head coach Juan Fernandez said there is room for improvement.

    “A special mention to Tim Yup,” he said, “even (though) he lost, (it was) his first match he did very well and came back from (being) down 0-5 to 5-5 in the first set.”

  • Lady Panthers fall 7-1 in All A Tournament

    Missed opportunities.

    That was the name of the game for Carroll County in their All A tournament match up against Owen County at home Saturday.

    The Lady Panthers edged the Lady Rebels in hits, 6-5, but left 13 runners on base and committed five errors. Final score: Owen 7, Carroll 1.

  • Baseball Panthers win on the road, 20-2

    The Carroll County baseball team defeated Gallatin County 20-2 Monday night in five innings after leading 14-0 after the first inning.
    Derek Williams gets the win on the mound, allowing three hits, two runs and striking out six.
    Ethan Stewart had three hits; Zach Wise had two doubles and a walk; Dillon Craig, Tyler Gross and Trey Boles had two hits; and Austin Crowell hit a double.
    If weather permits, Carroll was scheduled to take on Trimble County in the All A title game Tuesday. The winner advances to play DeSales High School in the Sweet 16.
