  • Kickin’ it old world

    The Carroll County High School Soccer team held its annual British Soccer Camp through Challenger Sports from August 23--27.

    British coaches Alan Urquhart, of Scotland, and Michael Doherty, of Liverpool, provided instruction for two three-hour sessions daily, including work on fundamentals, strategy and gameplay.

  • Fresh start for ladies after dismal 2011

    After finishing near the bottom of the region last season (5-18), the Lady Panther volleyball team has re-grouped and is ready to wipe the slate clean.

    “I’m excited and ready to start anew,” head coach Kristen Hooper said. “I think we’re going to be a really strong team this year. I feel like we get a lot of energy from our younger ones and experience from our older ones. It makes for a very good combination to drive us towards our goals and succeed.”

      The Carroll County High School soccer teams’ intersquad scrimmages took place Saturday, July 28 on the high school practice field.

  • Boys golf looks to improve behind seniors, new coach

    With the retirement of long-time Carroll County High School boys golf head coach Warren McEuen, first-year head coach Josh Mefford takes the reins of a team with both experience and up-and-coming talent.

    Seniors Nick Abbott and Zach Beckham lead this year’s squad of about nine players; however Mefford said he expects to pick up a few more when school is back in session.

  • XC practice begins Mon

    Cross Country practice starts Monday, July 30 at 9 a.m. at General Butler State Resort Park. Meet at the war memorial.
    Students must have a current physical on file to start practice. Cross Country is open to students in 3rd-12th grade.

    The Carroll County High School track and field team recently held their annual end-of-the-season banquet. The following student-athletes received awards:

    •Male Most Improved - Malachi Corbin

  • Youth volleyball camp June 13-15

     The Carroll County High School volleyball team will be sponsoring a youth volleyball camp June 13-15 from 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the high school gym. Incoming fourth graders and up are welcome to attend.

    The cost is $50 for all three days if campers pre-register by June 10. Otherwise, the cost is $60 for all three days at the door or $20 per day. Please specify which day on the form. Registration forms may be picked up at Cartmell Elementary, Carroll County Middle School or Carroll County High School.
